Description:

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a U.S. Beechcraft Model 17 Staggerwing utility biplane aircraft introduced in the early 30s and produced till 1949 in almost 800 units. The Beechcraft D-17 featured an atypical negative wing stagger design, where the lower wing is farther forward than the upper wing.

D-17 variant was produced from 1937 to 1945, mostly as military aircrafts (from 1941). Considering this is the Sword kit, the exact variant included is a D-17S, powered by a Pratt & Whitney R-985-SB Wasp Junior engine with 450hp (horse power).

This kit is an update of Sword kit (Sword – 72010 – Beechcraft D-17S “Staggerwing”) with a new decal sheet. AZ Model also has updated the canopy, which now is injected clear plastic, in difference to the original vacuform one from Sword kit.

Kit include 3 markings, one U.S. pre-war marking, another U.S. 1943 marking and finally a Chinese Nationalist marking dated 1944.
