Description:
MONTGOMERY DAKOTA MK. IV
Released in 1981 as the original kit ESCI – 9014 – TWA Douglas DC-3 LINER this kit added an extense decal sheet with four markings covering Douglas C-47 Dakota, Douglas C-47 Skytrain and Douglas Dakota Mk.IV, for Norwegian, USAF, RAF and South African Air Force respectively. The last two, Dakotas Mk.IV. The Dakota Mk.IV is the British designation for the C-47B, the VIP transport version of the C-47A, with a different inner configuration. The C-47 Skytrain was the initial military transport variant, similar to DC-3A, with capacity to transport 27 troops (The civilian versions DC-3 and DC-3A had capacity for 21 passengers) and C-47 Dakota or Dakota Mk.I was the RAF designation of the C-47 Skytrain or C-47A.
These variants doesn’t need to cut the last (seventh) window in the left side in difference to the passengers DC-3 kits like the original ESCI – 9014 – TWA Douglas DC-3 LINER, a difference just for the instructions, not for the parts of the fuselage.
The RAF marking included, KN628, a Douglas C-47B Dakota Mk.4, was used by Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery.
