ESCI tooled this kit in 1989, at that time, the Eurofighter was just a design, it took several years more till its maiden flight in 1994. In 1986, the British Aerospace EAP, the base for the Eurofighter design did its first flight. ESCI wanted to put in the market an early kit for this new subject, as Revell did in 1988 and Airfix in 1990.

In summary this mean that the kit is not an accurate Eurofighter Typhoon of any type, but a prototype. Though this, ESCI & ESCI-Ertl kept the kit till 90s (Airfix still kept their 1990 Eurofighter Typhoon). The Eurofighter Typhoon in 1/72 scale is of course an interesting topic, the best options for this subject are the Revell 2016 new tool, Revell – 03952 – Eurofighter Typhoon, released several times after, and the Hasegawa 2012 tool Hasegawa – 01570 (E40) – Eurofighter Typhoon (single seater).
