Fly – 72059 – Marcel Besson MB-411

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a French Besson MB.411 two seat observation float plane developed in the 30s. Only three units, including a prototype were produced. The Besson MB.411 was specifically produced for the submarine Surcouf, a heavy submarine, unique of its class (three were planned but only one constructed), produced in France in the 20s. The Besson MB.411 built and put in open sea in around 20 minutes.

The Besson MB-411 was a low-wing monoplane with a large single central float and under the wing two small stabilizing floats. The front box refers to it also as “Petrel” (Pétrel in French language), a name received in England when both the Surcouf and the Besson MB.411 were refitted, repaired and pressed into Free French Forces services, following the Royal Navy‘s practice of naming their planes after seabirds.

This is a straight kit, just plastic and decals. Number of parts is not too high, just around 50-60 parts, and decal sheet include two markings, one on board of the Surcouf submarine in 1936 and later 1937 marking for the second prototype. This kit is the only available for the Besson MB.411.
