IBG – 72565 – Romanian Barbarossa 1941 Vol. 2: IAR.80 Early & IAR.80A (2 In 1)

Description:

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a Romanian WWII fighter aircraft IAR 80, a self develop produced in around 450 units from 1941 to 1944. When designed in 1939 was a modern design comparable to contemporary aircrafts such Hawker Hurricane or Bf 109E, but delays in production and shortages delayed its introduction till two years later, and evolution and production numbers during the war were also inadequate and poorer that other develops such the German Bf 109.

The IAR.80A was produced after April 1941, this variant introduced the original planned 6 FN machine guns (Belgian Fabrique Nationale 7.92 mm machine guns) instead of just 2 as the early IAR.80. IAR.80A also added armored glass, seat-back armor, new gun sight and the K14-1000A engine. Only eight IAR.80A were completed before June when the Operation Barbarossa started, with more completed during the operation (22 June 1941 to 5 December 1941).

Third release of the newly tooled in 2024 IAR.80 IBG kit, this release include new parts (wings) for the IAR.80A version. Includes also a big decal sheet with 7 different markings to chose from, 4 for IAR.80 and 3 for IAR.80A variant, all dated in 1941 at the time of the Soviet Union invasion, Operation Barbarossa.
