The MiG-19, also known by its NATO reporting name “Farmer,” emerged as one of the pioneering supersonic jet fighters developed by the Soviet Union during the Cold War era. Introduced in the late 1950s, the MiG-19 represented a significant leap forward in Soviet aviation technology, boasting impressive speed and agility for its time. Equipped with a powerful afterburning turbojet engine, the MiG-19 was capable of reaching speeds exceeding Mach 1, enabling it to outpace many contemporary aircraft of its era.

One of the defining features of the MiG-19 was its distinctive swept-wing design, which contributed to its exceptional performance at high speeds. The aircraft featured a single-seat cockpit layout and was armed with a combination of cannons and air-to-air missiles, making it a formidable opponent in aerial combat. Over its operational lifespan, the MiG-19 underwent several upgrades and variants, including reconnaissance and ground-attack configurations, further solidifying its versatility and adaptability on the battlefield. Despite eventually being surpassed by more advanced aircraft, the MiG-19 played a significant role in shaping aerial warfare tactics and technologies during the Cold War period.

The MiG-19PM variant, designated as “Farmer-D” by NATO, was a specialized interceptor version of the MiG-19 developed by the Soviet Union in the early 1960s. Equipped with an advanced radar system and armed with air-to-air missiles, the MiG-19PM was designed to engage and neutralize enemy aircraft at long ranges. Its radar-guided missiles, such as the K-5 (NATO reporting name AA-1 Alkali), provided the MiG-19PM with enhanced capabilities for beyond-visual-range engagements, allowing it to effectively intercept enemy bombers and reconnaissance aircraft

Kit include new decal sheet with 3 Soviet Union markings. Original molds were tooled in 2019.
