Description:

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a British biplane trainer Avro 626.

The Avro 626 was a British military training aircraft developed in the interwar period by Avro. Introduced in 1930, it served primarily as a trainer for Royal Air Force (RAF) pilots and aircrew. The aircraft featured a conventional biplane design, with tandem seating for the instructor and trainee pilot. Powered by a variety of radial engines, including the Armstrong Siddeley Lynx and Cheetah, the Avro 626 offered reliable performance and ease of handling, making it an ideal platform for training purposes.

Throughout its service life, the Avro 626 underwent several modifications and variants to meet evolving training requirements. These included versions equipped with dual controls, allowing for more effective instruction, as well as models fitted with more powerful engines for advanced training. Despite being phased out of frontline service with the RAF prior to World War II, the Avro 626 continued to serve in various roles, including as a communications aircraft and in civilian flying schools, well into the 1940s.

Update of an old AZ Models kit tooled in 2008 with a new decal sheet, including four markings with options for Czechoslovak Air Force, Portuguese AF, Belgian AF and New Zealand AF.
