Kovozávody Prostějov (KP) – KPM0439 – P-51D-5 Mustang “357.th FG”

Description:

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a U.S. North American P-51 Mustang fighter aircraft, in a D-5 variant, the initial production block of the D series, which was the most produced series of the P-51 Mustang. D series introduced a new canopy and modified wings compared to B/C series, but the early D-5 lack of dorsal fin that was introduced in later blocks production.

New tool 2024, kit include decal sheet with 3 markings focused on the 357.th FG (fighter group) with markings for D-Day invasion date July-August 1944. The 357th FG (unofficially known as Yoxford Boys because they were deployed near Yoxford in the UK) flew 313 combat missions between 11 February 1944 and 25 April 1945 and is officially credited with over 700 German aircraft destroyed (both in air or ground).

The kit is part of a series of four releases, probably there will be more in the future. It can be considered a decent early P-51D kit.
