The Pilatus PC-9 is a single-engine turboprop trainer aircraft developed by the Swiss company Pilatus Aircraft in the 1980s. Designed as an advanced training aircraft, it provides a stepping stone for pilots transitioning to jet-powered aircraft. It features a Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-62 engine, which gives it a top speed of approximately 593 km/h (368 mph) and a range of around 1,600 km (994 miles). The PC-9 is known for its excellent maneuverability, modern avionics, and efficient fuel consumption, making it a popular choice for air forces worldwide.

Compared to its predecessor, the PC-7, the PC-9 includes an upgraded cockpit with ejection seats, a pressurized cabin, and improved aerodynamics. It has been adopted by several air forces, including those of Switzerland, Australia, and the United States, with the latter using a modified version called the T-6 Texan II. The PC-9 can also be lightly armed for training missions that simulate combat scenarios. Despite being replaced in some fleets by newer models like the PC-21, the PC-9 remains a highly regarded and widely used military trainer aircraft.
