The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-19 (NATO reporting name: “Farmer“) was a Soviet jet fighter developed in the early 1950s and became the first mass-produced Soviet aircraft capable of sustained supersonic flight in level flight. It was a major step forward from earlier MiG designs like the MiG-15 and MiG-17, featuring twin engines (two Tumansky RD-9 turbojets) and a mid-mounted wing with a sharp sweep angle for better high-speed performance.

First flying in 1953 and entering service shortly after, the MiG-19 could reach speeds of about 1,450 km/h (Mach 1.2) and had a service ceiling of around 17,500 meters. It was heavily armed with three 30mm cannons, making it a very potent fighter for its time. Although powerful, it was also known for being somewhat tricky to handle, especially at high speeds and altitudes, and early versions had reliability issues with the engines.

The MiG-19 saw combat in various conflicts during the Cold War era, most notably with Chinese and North Vietnamese forces during the Vietnam War, where it often engaged American aircraft. It was eventually superseded by more advanced designs like the MiG-21, but many MiG-19s (and their Chinese-built versions, like the Shenyang J-6, designates F-6 for export market) remained in service around the world for decades.

This release focuses on foreign users of the Chinese built Shenyang J-6, F-6 export variant. Kit include markings for Pakistan, Iraq, Egypt and North Vietnam options. Kit was originally tooled in 2019.
