Northrop F-5B
Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a U.S. light fighter aircraft Northrop F-5, introduced in early 60s had a big success in export sales (it was a private venture of Northrop) and initially was produced in two main variants, A, single-seat fighter version and B, two-seat trainer version but retaining offensive armament capabilities.
This kit is a variation of Matchbox – PK-12 – Northrop F-5A which introduced new parts and new decal sheet in 1983. F-5B is a two seat variant, rather than the single seat F-5A. Matchbox accomodated a new seat in the sprue by removing the pilot figure, this kit has any, as well as updated nose parts, fuselage and canopy.
This kit included a decal sheet with two markings, one for the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) and one for the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNAF).
This modified F-5B was used later to release Matchbox – 40006 – Northrop CF 116 (F-5B).
