Smer – 915 – Jak-23/Yak-23

Description:

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a Soviet Yakovlev Yak-23 jet fighter aircraft, “Flora” allied NATO reporting name. The Yak-23 was one of the early soviet jet fighters, developed in the late 40s. Inferior to MiG-15 was produced in limited numbers, over 300 units, and mostly issued to Warsaw Pact nations were remained in service most of 50s or later. Yak-23 featured a straight wing geometry.

Kit is based in old KP (Kopro) kit, tooled in 1981. Kit has been seen under several other brands as Mister Craft or the different names that KP used during the last 4 decades. This release include a decal sheet with at least 4 markings, for Polish, Czechoslovak, Soviet and one U.S. marking. The U.S. marking is the only Yak-23 the U.S. put their hands on, acquired via Yugoslavia in 1953, an ex-Romanian Yak-23 flown by Mihail Diaconu, who defected with it. After secret tests the aircraft was returned to Yugoslavia with it original paint and markings. Sadly the original Romanian marking is not included in the decal sheet.
