“Fighting Commies in Europe and the Far East“

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a four engined British Short Sunderland (Short S.25 Sunderland) flying boat bomber developed in the late 30s and widely employed during WWII and later up to the 60s when was retired.

The Mk. V variant was the last of the militar variants developed, introduced in 1944 with new powerful engines around 155 units were built of this type, with some other being converted from the previous Mk.III variant. The Mk.V was capable of stay in flight with two knocked out engines in the same wing.

Originally tooled in 2019 kit include resin and PE (photo-etched) parts. It’s a big model with a high number of parts, not recommended for beginners.

Decal sheet include 4 markings, three of them are for British RAF, the main operator of the type and one French marking. Two of the RAF markings are Far East, based in Singapore in the early 50s while the other marking is a 1948 marking for an aircraft involved in the Berlin Airlift during the 1948-1949 Berlin Blockade.
