Special Hobby – SH72500 – Fokker D.21 “Against Messerschmitts”

Plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a Dutch Fokker D.XXI fighter aircraft introduced in the mid-late 30s that mostly saw service with the Finnish forces, produced under license. Around 36 aircraft served in the Dutch Air Forces and were available during the German invasion in 1940. Some captured examples were later operated by Luftwaffe for testing, training or other second line duties.

This kit is a 2024 reissue and enhancement of the old MPM Productions kit tooled in the early 2000s. This new release include 3D printed parts, mostly focused in enhance the cockpit, Resin cast parts, also for the cockpit and a small PE (photo-etched) sheet which include parts, amongst others, to create an open canopy, reserved for the most experienced modelers. For the rest of us, a standard clear plastic closed canopy is provided.

The kit is completed with a decal sheet including 3 Dutch markings and one German captured aircraft that accepts two markings, as initially retained some of the original Dutch markings but later was totally updated to Luftwaffe markings.
