ACE – 72600 – US G7106 1,5t 4×4 Cargo/Dump truck

The G7106 1.5-ton 4×4 Cargo/Dump Truck refers to a variant within the Chevrolet G506 series, a line of medium-duty 4×4 trucks built by General Motors (Chevrolet division) during World War II. These vehicles were widely used by the U.S. Army and its allies for a range of support roles.

The G7106 specifically is the cargo truck variant with a winch, part of the broader G7100 series. The 1.5-ton payload class placed it between lighter jeeps and heavier 2.5-ton trucks, giving it mobility with decent load capacity. It was powered by a 235 cu in (3.9 L) inline-six engine, coupled to a four-speed transmission and two-speed transfer case, giving it reliable off-road capability.

The dump truck version was designated G7113 within the same series, featuring a hydraulic bed for engineering and construction roles. Both types were based on the same chassis but configured differently depending on role—cargo, maintenance, dump, telephone line work, etc.

These trucks were commonly seen with enclosed metal cabs early in the war, which were later replaced by soft-top open cabs for standardization and ease of production. The G7106 saw service not only in Europe and the Pacific, but also in lend-lease programs with the USSR.

This is a new tool in 2025 that opens an interesting way of different models based in the Chevrolet chassis. Kit include also PE (photo-etched) parts and a decal sheet with 3 U.S. markings. Engineering is the “classic” by ACE for this kind of models. Two sprue (that probably will be shared with coming models) contains parts for the chassis, cab and wheels, while one third sprue contains the specific parts for the cargo/dump in the rear. Include also a small sprue with clear parts.
