Description:

The Tatra 57 Army Cabrio was a military adaptation of the civilian Tatra 57, a compact passenger car produced in Czechoslovakia during the 1930s and early 1940s. Known for its robust construction and distinctive engineering, the Tatra 57 series was powered by a reliable air-cooled, four-cylinder boxer engine mounted in the front, driving the rear wheels. The vehicle had a simple, boxy layout that lent itself well to modification for military use.

When Germany occupied Czechoslovakia in 1939, production of the Tatra 57 continued under German oversight, and various versions were adapted for Wehrmacht use. The Army Cabrio variant was an open-top staff car designed primarily for officers and liaison duties. It featured a canvas roof that could be folded down, minimal interior fittings for easier maintenance, and often lacked the more refined elements of its civilian counterpart. Its lightweight and air-cooled engine made it particularly well-suited to harsh field conditions, including Eastern Front winters and dusty Balkan roads.
