Sd. Kfz. 251/10 Anti tank Vehicle

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a German WWII armoured half-track Sd. Kfz. 251/10 Ausf. C, a variant which mounted a PaK 36 in the position of the front machine gun, usually issued to platoon leaders as fire support vehicle. The early versions used a top half of a PaK 36 with full shield, but later (Ausf.C and Ausf.D variants) used a reduced shield.

Variation of kit ESCI – 8359 – 8002 – Hanomag Sd. Kfz. 251/1 adding the sprue of the 3.7 cm Pak 36 from the weapons set ESCI – 8020 – German Anti-Tank Gun as is, including wheels, carriage and full shield, plus two figures of little use here.

Combining the problems of the Sd. Kfz. 251/1 kit together with the basic 3.7 cm Pak 36 and the lack of any extra interior detail as ammo boxes for the PaK, the combination of these two kits not only not enhance the Sd. Kfz. 251/1 but make it worse.

Dragon release for the same topic is far superior, Dragon – 7314 – Sd.Kfz.251/10 Ausf.C w/3.7cm Pak and they also produced and Ausf.D variant, Dragon – 7280 – Sd.Kfz.251/10 Ausf. D w/3.7cm PaK. To enhance the ESCI kit you not only need to replace wheels and tracks, but also the 3.7 cm Pak 36 gun plus the interior detail. Note that Dragon kits also only issues the early gun shields, in both plastic and PE part.

This is the only variant of the ESCI Sd.Kfz.251 that Italeri never has re-released. In 2023 Italeri finally re-issued this variant as kit Italeri – 7079 – Sd.Kfz. 251/10 with a new decal sheet.
