Sd. Kfz. 250/10

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a German WWII armoured half-track Sd.Kfz.250 / 10 variant, usually issued to reconnaissance platoon leaders, fitted with a  3.7 cm PaK 35/36. The kit reproduces the “alte” (early) production version with angled plates.

In 1976, one year after the initial release of the Sd. Kfz. 250/3 kit, ESCI introduced two more variants, one of them this 250/10 fitted with a PaK 35/36 as main weapon and a rear machine gun MG 34.

The kit share the odds of the initial releases, as both shares most of the parts. Ugly single piece tracks, wrong front wheels and the basic or just lack of interior detail together with a two raised floor.

This kit followed the same life than the original 250/3, being released in the 70s by Revell-ESCI, Hasegawa or Aurora. In the ESCI-Ertl times, this kit also got the link-and-length tracks, which as we commented on the 250/3, in this case didn’t improved too much the tracks appearance of the kit plus the confusion of exactly the same box type with different content.

In difference to the original release, this variant never has been re-released by Italeri.

Kit included a decal sheet with four markings.

Though we love ESCI kits, nowadays you can find a better Sd.Kfz.250/10 at Special Armour – SA72027 – Captured Sd.Kfz. 250 Ausf. A (Alte Ausführung) and ACE – 72253 – Armored Personnel Carrier Sd.Kfz.250/10 (3.7cm).
