ForeArt – 2004 – M19 Twin 40mm Gun Motor Carriage

Description:

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a U.S. M19 self-propelled anti-aircraft gun, fitted with a twin Bofors 40mm gun and build over a M24 Chaffee light tank chassis.

The develop started in the late WWII was a replacement for the similar concept T69 AA gun, built over the M5 light tank chassis. M19s arrived late to see effective combat during WWII but they were deployed also during Korean War.

As the real subject, ForeArt reuses here parts from their ForeArt – 2003 – M24 Chaffee U.S. Light Tank kit, for the wheels and lower hull parts, and adds new parts for the modified upper hull and guns’ turret. The kit in particular depicts the M19A1 variant, an improved variant with an auxiliar engine and spare Bofors 40mm tubes (very visible up the hull in front of the turret). Kit include a small PE sheet and two metal barrels for the guns.
