The MAZ-502 was a Soviet 4×4 off-road truck developed in the early 1950s as an all-wheel-drive version of the well-known MAZ-200 series, produced by the Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ). It was designed primarily for use in rugged and remote regions of the Soviet Union, particularly in forestry, oil exploration, and military logistics—environments where conventional rear-wheel-drive trucks struggled.

At its core, the MAZ-502 retained the same basic cab and engine layout as the MAZ-200, powered by a robust 6-cylinder 11-liter diesel engine, typically the YaAZ-204, which delivered reliable torque and endurance. What made the 502 stand out was its permanent 4×4 drivetrain, reinforced suspension, and increased ground clearance, all of which gave it good off-road capability, even in deep mud, snow, or unpaved terrain.

The truck featured a heavy-duty chassis and often came with a wooden or steel cargo bed, sometimes equipped with a winch or optional logging frame, making it especially valued in timber operations across Siberia and the Far North. It could carry loads of around 4 tons off-road, and even more on solid ground. While it wasn’t fast or particularly comfortable, its simplicity, durability, and rugged build made it dependable in harsh conditions.

Though eventually superseded by more modern and refined vehicles, the MAZ-502 became a symbol of early postwar Soviet engineering aimed at taming the vast and often inaccessible reaches of the USSR. Many remained in service for decades, often rebuilt or repurposed, a testament to their utility and resilience.

Kit consists of one sprue of plastic parts, a clear parts sprue as is complemented with a 3D printed plate including wheels and lights plus some detail part.
