IBG – 72146 – Daimler Armoured Car “Sawn-Off”

All the Daimler Armoured Car series by IBG is a super detailed and well engineered series, with attention to the last detail that you can bring into 1/72 scale.

Set is composed by a large number of parts for such small armored card, this will scare some, and certainly amount of little parts is important in the set. Is not the kind of set i would recommend for beginners, but since engineering, cast and fitting of parts is pretty good, i think it will be a pleasure to build by any average modeler, and the kit offers nice possibilities for the more skilled modelers around.

The kit offers a good interior detail, important in an open no-turret armored car like the “Sawn-Off” version is. This part takes a good number of parts, but the most delicate build step are the wheels, transmission and suspension parts around wheels, little parts and correct angle need for all of them. The main body hull is also split in several parts, contrary to some makers that trend to try to simplify this part as much as possible IBG chose here to go in the “hard” way and you need to be bit careful for a proper assembly. The well printed (in color) instructions will help in the process.

For those looking in even more, some aftermarket manufacturers like Black Dog has been releasing specific sets for the Daimler Armoured Car series by IBG.

The kit include decal sheet with two markings, both for the 11th Armored Division, Inns of Court regiment, dated 1944 in Belgium. Decals print quality is also very good.
