IBG – 72159 – 90/53 90mm Italian Anti Aircraft Gun

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of an Italian 90/53 anti-aircraft gun (Cannone da 90/53), a powerful 90mm gun that proved to be a very successful design and used in the dual purpose of anti-aircraft and antitank as well as mounted on ships of the Littorio class and the Andrea Doria class.

IBG already tooled two other models using this excellent gun, as example of how widely the Italian army tried to use it, the gun was mounted for example in the Lancia 3Ro truck (IBG – 72096 – Italian Autocannone 3Ro with 90/53 90mm Anti Air Gun) or in the late IBG – 72131 – M41M Semovente da 90/53 Italian SPG with very limited production.

This new release offers the gun in its towed configuration Modello 41C and kit allows to build it in either the transport mode or in firing position. The gun was capable to pierce in a good range every Allied tank it had to face in North Africa or Italy, but production problems limited its deployment and by July 1943, when the production halted, only 539 guns of all the types (excluding naval guns) had been produced, not fulfilling even a third of the original order number. Surviving examples were keep in use by the German army after the armistice.
