M274&M40 recoilless rifle

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a U.S. M274 ½-ton 4×4 utility platform truck, usually known as Mechanical Mule or just Mule, a four-wheel drive light tractor introduced in mid 50s and used till 80s. The M40 recoilless rifle is a portable 105mm gun also introduced in mid 50s, widely employed during Vietnam War and adopted by a large list of operators due its simplicity, durability and fire power, remaining still operative.

The specific combination of both happened during Vietnam War, the mule also has been used to porte other weapons such M60 machine guns or even TOW anti-tank guided missiles.

This kit is a combination of kit S-Model – PS720074 – M274 Mechanical Mule with an extra sprue for the M40 recoilless rifle, in fact the sprue for the M40 was seen at the same time that PS720074 was released in 2019, but this combination was not released then. The kit includes two equal models, each recoilless rifle consists of 18 parts, including six projectiles of three different types, two of each, each M274 “Mule” consists of also of 18 parts. Considering how simply both real models are is a very acceptable degree of detail. This model doesn’t include PE detail parts.
