Description:

The M151 ¼-ton 4×4 utility truck was the last of the “Jeep” series produced for the U.S. army, from 1959 to 1988, before replacement in service by HMMWV (High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle, Humvee).

The M151A2, introduced in 1968, brought significant improvements over its predecessors, particularly in terms of handling and safety. One of the most notable upgrades was the adoption of a semi-trailing arm rear suspension, which enhanced stability and reduced the risk of rollovers during high-speed maneuvers. Additionally, the A2 model featured various refinements, including improved turn signals and larger combination turn signal/blackout lights mounted on redesigned front fenders, distinguishing it from the earlier M151A1, which had flat fenders. Among the specialized variants of the M151A2 was the M151A2 TOW, a dedicated anti-tank vehicle equipped with the TOW (Tube-launched, Optically-tracked, Wire-guided) missile system, providing infantry units with a mobile and effective platform for engaging armored threats on the battlefield.
