P-70 Nightfighter

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a U.S. Douglas A-20 Havoc multi-role aircraft of the WWII (medium bomber, attack aircraft, night intruder, night fighter, and reconnaissance aircraft) introduced in 1941. Over 7000 units were built in many different variants for the specific purposes.

P-70 was a night fighter variant fitted with a nose radar and four 20mm (.79 in) forward-firing cannon in a tray in the lower part of the bomb bay, they were mostly converted from A-20G and A-20J variants.

Despite Matchbox had tooled its own Douglas Boston IV / Havoc A-20G kit in 1978, for the night fighter variant they used the Revell kit, based in moulds of 1967 which were updated with new parts for the night fighter variant in 1975. Matchbox re-released the Revell kit in 1991 with a new decal sheet including one single U.S. marking.
