Description:
Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a Soviet ZIS-5 truck, developed during 30s and widely used till 50s.
In late 1941, due to wartime shortages of raw materials, significant modifications were made to the construction of the ZIS-5. The alterations were primarily aimed at simplifying the manufacturing process and reducing the consumption of raw materials. Notable changes included replacing the round, stamped fenders with flat, bent ones, crafting cabs and footboards from wood, removing brakes from the front wheels, and allowing the tailgate of the rear body to swing only. In some instances, the right headlight was also omitted, and these versions lacked bumpers.
The streamlined variant, officially designated ZIS-5V, commenced production in May 1942, initially in Ulyanovsk and later expanded to Moscow and Miass.
There is little information yet about the kit but it will consists of 86 plastic parts and 33 PE (photo-etched) parts, which is a quite high number for the type of model and gives an idea of the detail level.
