We are almost done about update KP, just on time because a large batch of new models has been announced and will be released during next weeks. Recovered a missed entry from 2020 by AMG (Arsenal Model Group), Arsenal Model Group (AMG) – 72420 – Messerschmitt Bf 109C-2(N).

Fine Molds is about to release two more Mitsubishi F-15J variants, limited editions with one single marking for aggressor schemas, Fine Molds – FK01 – Japan Air Self-Defense Force F-15DJ Aggressor and Fine Molds – FK02 – Japan Air Self-Defense Force F-15J Aggressor. This kits are mainly oriented to Japanese internal market and little distribution is expected outside Japan.

Azur-FRROM is about to release two new variants of the Potez 25, one of the more successful inter-wars designs. The kits are Azur FRROM – 0053 – Potez 25 Renault 12 Kg and Azur FRROM – 0054 – Potez 25 Salmson 18 Cmb and they should hit stores very soon.

A&A Models is about to release two interesting novelties, A&A Models – AAM7237 – C-12A/C/U “Huron” military transporter, which is an update of the previous Huron kit and they both an evolution of the A&A Models – 7224 – Beechcraft 200 Super King Air kit. The second release A&A Models – AAM7233 – Northrop F-15A “Reporter” is a new tool for 2024, an interesting aircraft, evolved from the Northrop P-61 Black Widow that was caught in the transition to jet powered aircrafts and little produced.

Italeri will be re-releasing soon their Bf 110 kit, tooled in 1994-1995, time for Italeri – 0049 – Bf 110 C Zerstörer which will include a new decal sheet with 5 markings.

A number of new Hasegawa kits is coming, and today we just added Hasegawa – 02472 – S2F-1 Tracker “J.M.S.D.F. 11th FS”, a limited edition of their Grumman S-2 Tracker kit mainly intended for Japanese market.

AZ Model released not much ago a JOYPACK edition of KP P-51 kit, AZ Model – AZ7708 – P-51B/C JOYPACK, including three full models with two canopy options.

LF Models brings two interesting new tools for this 2024, both are related developments, as the real helicopters was, but different models. They are LF Models – PE7270 – Scout AH.1 British service and LF Models – PE7271 – Wasp HAS.1 International service.

Added sprue and parts images for both RS Models – 92288 – F-5B Lightning and RS Models – 92289 – F-5C Lightning which start to be available by several sellers. RS Models – 94025 – P-38J “Yippee” also updated with a decal sheet image.

Together with the two Westland helicopters mentioned above, LF Models is also releasing a newly tooled Henschel Hs 123 with two initial releases: LF Models – PE7273 – Hs 123 Luftwaffe service and LF Models – PE7272 – Hs 123 “Angelito” Spanish service.

Recovered a missed release by RS Models of 2023, RS Models – 94013 – Aero C-104 (Limited Edition), a variant with new decals in the large list of Bücker Bü 131 Jungmann kits by RS Models.

Also recovered today a 2020 Fine Molds release, Fine Molds – FP35 – IJN Planned Interceptor Mitsubishi A7M2 ‘Reppu’ Sam, a re-decal of the Fine Molds – FP18 – IJN A7M2 Reppu (Type 17 Sam) kit and originally tooled in 1993 and updated with new parts in 1995.

Arma Hobby announced a new release of their P-51B kit, in a deluxe format, 2 full models, with 3D printed part, Arma Hobby – 70069 – P-51B Mustang Deluxe Set.

Added a trio of Smer Polikarpov Po-2 announced between 2021/2022, but with unconfirmed release date. The kits are the old KP kit with new decals: Smer – 897 – Polikarpov Po-2 Korean War, Smer – 895 – Polikarpov Po-2 (Wheels) and Smer – 896 – Polikarpov Po-2 Ski.

If you hadn’t enough with a P-51B deluxe set by Arma Hobby, Eduard is releasing a new tool for a P-51D kit, starting by a Royal Class dual combo box, Eduard – R0021 – P-51D MUSTANG DUAL COMBO (Royal Class).

Airfix is about to reissue their Gloster Gladiator kit (tooled in 2013) as Airfix – A02052B – Gloster Gladiator Mk.I/Mk.II with a new decal sheet. Also in progress the release of Airfix – A01071C – Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Ia which just adds a new decal sheet with one single marking.

Another Airfix kit announced for next months, expected during summer, a Airfix – A55014 – Messerschmitt Bf109F-4 (Starter Set) which seems to be a new tool of this year, with just 30 parts and one single marking in this first release. An easy kit recommended for beginners and young modelers.

Added a trio of Fiat G.50 Freccia kits released by AML past year, AML – 72053F – FIAT G.50 FRECCIA OVER FINLAND, AML – 72051F – FIAT G.50 FRECCIA IN SPAIN and AML – 72047F – FIAT G.50 FRECCIA OVER ITALIAN SKY. They all are based on the Fly Models kit, upgraded with PE parts, resin parts and new decals.

Slowly continuing with the old quest to recover all the ESCI 1/72 scale aircraft kits, by adding today ESCI – 9054 – F-14A Tomcat.

In a continuation from yesterday, just added ESCI – 9055 – F-14 Tomcat Plus and the last of the ESCI F-14s, ESCI – 9119 – F-14A Tomcat Desert Storm.

Added Hasegawa – 02471 – F/A-18C Hornet “VMFA-115 Silver Eagles”, a limited edition of Hasegawa F/A-18C 1/72 scale kit with an interesting marking on the farewell of the VMFA-115 disbanded in 2023 including also an emblem patch of the squadron. Also added Hasegawa – 02470 – Mitsubishi Ki67 Type 4 Heavy Bomber Hiryu “4th Instruction Squadron”, another coming set by Hasegawa expected for release in Japan next month.

Recovered today one of the best ESCI kits in their history, ESCI – 9030 – Sea Harrier FRS MK1, a kit that stills worth it to build after more than 40 years since release.

Added a second ESCI Harrier kit, ESCI – 9034 – Laser Harrier GR 3, still a good kit, also issued under Italeri. Completed now the ESCI Harrier kits by adding ESCI – 9051 – AV-8A U.S. “Marines”, ESCI – 9036 – MDD AV-8A “Matador” and ESCI – 9079 – Harrier “Jump Jet” with Pilots and Ground Crew.

Special Hobby is releasing two new sets in the following weeks, we started by adding Special Hobby – 72490 – Fouga CM.170 Magister “Aerobatic Teams”, an update with new decals of the CM.170 Magister kit tooled in 2015. The second release is Special Hobby – 72201 – Westland Whirlwind FB Mk.I Fighter-Bomber, and upgraded version of the 2010 kit, with 3D printed parts.

Revisited the recently released Azur FRROM – 0053 – Potez 25 Renault 12 Kg and Azur FRROM – 0054 – Potez 25 Salmson 18 Cmb, added pictures of box content and parts as well as downloadable instructions sheet.

Recover another ESCI kit, one of those big failures, not because the kit is bad engineered, just because depicts a topic that ended in nothing, and that just resemble a Kamov K-50. We speak about ESCI – 9073 (99073) – Kamov Ka-34 Hokum.

ACE is about to release a new Ford truck, time for a Panel Van, ACE – 72589 – 134in Panel Van mod.1939. At the time Ford had available a very large catalogue of chassis, bodies and several motorizations to conform their trucks and commercial vehicles line, and ACE has found its path to keep producing interesting models keeping one sprue in common for all of them, even with a change in the chassis length as this model introduces.

Recovered a 2023 Plastic Soldier Company release, Plastic Soldier – WW2V20037- British Humber Armoured Car, an excellent option for wargamers.

Recovered a Mirage Hobby release, based in a large set of new 3D printed parts to update their M3 Lee kits and create Mirage Hobby – 720004 – M31/T2 HEAVY WRECKER. The brand is following this formula to keep adding new releases over existing kits, as well as a dedicated line of 3D printed 1/72 scale figures with accessories that we aren’t covering, at least by now.

The last First to Fight model is available, time for another Pz 38(t), First to Fight – 109 – German light tank Pz.Kpfw 38 Ausf. D.

Zvezda is well advanced in the production of their next kit, Zvezda – 5077 – T-62 Main Battle Tank. Noticeable that kit features link-and-length tracks, rather than single piece one.

Sci-Fi and Anime

2024-05-01

New month, and new kits added. To start by, recovering and old anime series, Genesis Climber Mospeada, another transformable-mecha universe similar to Macross which also was adapted in the U.S. in the also popular Robotech. There was two main kind of mecha in Mospeada, a variable fighter (Legioss) really similar to Macross Valkyrie concept, and a motorcycle. The variable fighter were the ones that were depicted in 1/72 scale, initially by IMAI and later Aoshima (reissuing IMAI) and Wave, contributed to expand or keep the interest in the franchise. To reflect this, we added one model of each, depicting the same character, Imai – B-1354 – Genesis Climber Mospeada Legioss AFC-01I Armo-Soldier, Aoshima – 54444 (039601) – Genesis Climber MOSPEADA Legioss AFC-01I Armo-Soldier Conversion Kit and Wave – WAVKM-03 – Genesis Climber Mospeada Legioss AFC-01I Iota.

Slowly we’ll try to recover all the large and high quality releases by Bandai for the Macross Universe. Today we added a very special issue of 2009 for the really very fans of the subject, Bandai – 960420 – VF-25F Messiah Valkyrie Alto Custom Ranka Deculture Decal Ver. Also added Bandai – 1/72 VF-25F Tornado Messiah Valkyrie Alto Custom.

Also added today the first of the VF-25Fs kits by Bandai released in 2008, while the original Macross Frontier TV series, where the type was shown for first time, was aired. The kit Bandai – 955525 – VF-25F Messiah Valkyrie Alto Custom opened the door to up to 20 related variations and reissues by Bandai in the following years.

Added the three original Armo-Diver releases by IMAI from the Genesis Climber Mospeada series produced in 1983-84. This complete all the original IMAI releases for the topic. The three models are IMAI – B-1350-300 – Genesis Climber Mospeada Legioss AFC-01H Armo-Diver, IMAI – A-1351 – Genesis Climber Mospeada Legioss AFC-01I Armo-Diver and IMAI – B-1352 – Genesis Climber Mospeada Legioss AFC-01Z Armo-Diver.

Excellent news in the Macross universe, with the release of a new VF-1 Battroid Valkyrie by Max Factory, Max Factory – MAX01350 – PLAMAX VF-1J Battroid Valkyrie (Hikaru Ichijo / Hikaru Ichijyo), which soon will be followed by a VF-1D Battroid. It’s a fully new tool with the usual high quality finish of all Max Factory products. A must have for the fans of the popular anime franchise.

Today we’ll spend some time around Macross, Hasegawa has a good number of novelties coming, including some really exciting novelties. To start by just added Hasegawa – 65886 – Queadluun Rau “Max” (Movie Version), a variation of the past year new tool Queadluun model Hasegawa – 65732 – Queadluun Rau “Miria” Movie Edition.

The second great news of the day for the Macross fans is the announced, for late July, Hasegawa YF-19 Battroid, Hasegawa – 33 – YF-19 Battroid (Macross Plus), for first time the YF-19 is released as 1/72 scale plastic model kit in Battroid mode adding another milestone for Hasegawa in the Macross universe.

Hasegawa is reissuing soon Hasegawa – 65826 – VF-25G MESSIAH “Macross Frontier”, originally released in 2007-2008. As kit was not in our listing, is a good time to add it. Another reissue happening soon that we just added is the Hasegawa – 65788 – VF-1A Valkyrie 5Grand Anniversary with an special marking for the 5000 VF-1 produced.

Another chapter added today for the Genesis Climber Mospeada with the three combination boxes that Imai released in 2001 with ocasion of the DVD release of the TV serie in Japan. These boxes included each of the three originally tooled kits in 1983-1984 for each of the modes of the Legioss, Fighter, Diver and Soldier. These same packages were later reissued under Aoshima brand.

Closing another chapter in the Mospeada series by adding the two pending Aoshima reissues of the three kits included IMAI boxes, Aoshima – 5443 – Genesis Climber MOSPEADA Legioss AFC-01Z Zeta Conversion Kit and Aoshima – 5445 – Genesis Climber MOSPEADA Legioss AFC-01H Eta Conversion Kit. The end is very soon, we just need to add three more Wave kits to full cover the history of Genesis Climber Mospeada plastic model kits in 1/72 scale.
