Unpainted plastic soldiers in 1/72 scale depicting Cossack infantry and Russian Sailors in service during the Crimean War, mainly aimed for the Sevastopol siege.

Box contains 46 figures in 46 different poses, in a super generous offer of poses.

The main bulk of the set is composed by Cossack infantry, with around 34 of the 46 figures (and poses). The poses are mainly for skirmish action of silent hand to hand actions, which is fine for the subject, and with so many Cossack cavalry sets released this infantry set is a good complement for the Crimean war. Some of the poses in this range are really nice. They depict Kuban Cossacks from the Caucasus army, with the very distinctive ammunition loops on the chest and they all certainly looks like Cossacks with little regulation on their uniform.

The second bulk of the set is devoted to Russian Sailors. The navies which did not scape before the Allies blocked Sevastopol were sunk to protect the harbor, and guns, crews and sailors had an important role in the defense of the Sevastopol during the long 11 months siege. Most of the figures included here are working as preparing defenses, and just a couple of the sailors poses are acting as soldiers. There is also a high officer figure amongst them.

This set still haves the chunky and particular style of the Strelets sets sculpture for many years, but certainly they nailed many of the very generous 46 different poses and everything is correctly depicted. For anyone interested in the Crimean War in 1/72 scale this is one of the sets to don’t skip.
