Description:

Plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a British Airspeed Envoy light transport aircraft introduced in mid 30s.

The pilot and eight-passenger Envoy was an enlarged, twin-engined development of the AS.5 Courier. It first flew on June 26, 1934. Approximately 50 were built by Airspeed for civil operators in Britain, Japan, Czechoslovakia, China, and South Africa. Additionally, a few were made for the South African Air Force (SAAF) and the RAF, with SAAF Envoys equipped to carry bombs and fitted with one forward-firing and one dorsal-turreted machine gun. Mitsubishi also produced several under license. The Envoy was powered by various engines, including the Wolseley AR.9, Scorpio I, Aries III, Armstrong Siddeley Lynx IVC, Cheetah IX, Wright Whirlwind R.760, and Walter Castor II.
