Description:

German States’ Cuirassiers in Skirmish

Unpainted plastic soldiers in 1/72 scale depicting Cuirassiers in Skirmish during the Spanish War of Succession era. The title mention “German States” but appearance were pretty similar across other Europe nations so they can be deployed as other factions who took part in the conflict despite the appearance of these Cuirassiers is some old fashioned for the late period of the war an reminds of Cuirassiers as used during the late years of the previous century.

The box contains 12 mounted figures in 12 different poses, horses are in 6 stationary poses. Poses includes a command of three figures, drummer, standard bearer and officer and 9 Cuirassiers using a mix of carbines and pistols. None of them is using the sword, which might be right for a Skirmish attitude.

Quality of the sculpture is really good, not only about detail of the figures but also about the quality of the poses, which are a mix of firing and reloading poses, with (in particular) two very convincing firing poses, which are firing quite above the horse head rather than totally sided as commonly done in plastic figures to avoid molding problems. The figures reloading, in different stages of the reload process are very nicely done too, and in general term, all the set is excellent.

Horses are less impressive than Cuirassiers figures but they are correct and usable.

Together with the “German States” Cuirassiers a Dutch counterpart has been released as Strelets – 259 – Dutch Cuirassiers.
