A&A Models – 7228 – AD-5W “SkyRaider” American Attack Aircraft

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a U.S. Douglas A-1 Skyraider, an attack aircraft able to operate from carriers introduced in 1946. Despite the heavy changes military aviation suffered in the following decades this particular piston engine remained in service till the early 70s.

AD-5W variant was an early warning version with an AN/APS-20 radar installed and three seats (kit builds 4 equal seats) in a quite redesigned airframe.

This kit is an update of the Skale Wings tooled in 2016. A&A adds a new PE sheet with detail parts and a new decal sheet with 3 markings for the U.S. Navy.

Despite the “short-run” technologies used in the tooling and casting, the parts are pretty clean, but the original Skale Wings kit was criticized in 2016 by a too simplified parts in some areas of the aircraft and a too thick canopy. This small odds remain in this updated re-edition.

This molds remains as the only AD-5 variant of the SkyRaider as per 2023 when released.
