Azur FRROM – FR0052 – DB-7 In French Service

Description:

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a U.S. Douglas A-20 Havoc, a twin engined light bomber later adapted to a multi-role function acting as night fighter, light bomber or attack aircraft.

The A-20 Havoc was officially entered in service in 1941, but the French variant, DB-7, started delivery in late 1939, and around 70 units were available at the outbreak of the German invasion in 1940. The French variant applied several modifications to the original design to meet French Air Force requirements, as had a narrower and deeper fuselage as well as French weapons and instruments. Before the armistice, the surviving DB-7s were moved to Africa and took under control of Vichy government.

After North Africa French forces joined the Allies again, in late 1942-1943, DB-7 were relegated to training duties, replaced in front line by Martin B-26 Marauders.

This is an excellent new tooled kit in 2024 that depict this early variant for first time, and include three French markings dated 1940 and 1941.
