Description:

The Praga E-114 Baby was a light sports aircraft developed in Czechoslovakia in the 1930s, designed for civilian use and training. It was a high-wing monoplane with a simple yet efficient structure, featuring a wooden frame covered in fabric. Its lightweight design and modest engine made it economical to operate, appealing to private pilots and flying clubs. First flown in 1934, the aircraft was initially powered by a Praga B engine, though later variants featured improved powerplants for better performance. Despite its small size, the E-114 was a capable and stable aircraft, ideal for training and leisure flights.

The aircraft gained international recognition when it was presented at the 1935 Lympne Trials in the United Kingdom, where its efficiency and affordability impressed audiences. This led to British production under the Hillson Praga brand, broadening its appeal outside of Czechoslovakia. During World War II, some were used for liaison duties, though their primary role remained civilian aviation. After the war, production resumed, and modernized versions continued to fly for several years. The Praga E-114 remains a classic example of 1930s European light aircraft design, embodying simplicity, affordability, and practicality in personal aviation.
