Description:

The Aermacchi MB-326 began its career primarily as a jet trainer, designed to bridge the gap between piston-engine trainers and front-line jet fighters. Its development was driven by the Italian Air Force’s need for a versatile, easy-to-fly jet that could handle both basic and advanced training tasks. The aircraft’s tandem seating arrangement allowed instructors to closely monitor student pilots, while its responsive handling and stable flight characteristics made it ideal for a training environment. The MB-326 was powered by the reliable Rolls-Royce Viper turbojet engine, which provided a good balance of thrust and efficiency, and helped keep operating costs relatively low for a jet aircraft.

Throughout its production run, several trainer-specific variants were developed to suit the needs of various air forces. The original MB-326A served as the prototype and standard trainer for the Italian Air Force. Later versions, such as the MB-326G and MB-326H, were customized for export, incorporating structural reinforcements and compatibility with NATO avionics. The MB-326H was produced under license in Australia by the Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation, where it served for decades with the Royal Australian Air Force and Navy. Across all these variants, the MB-326 established a strong reputation as a dependable and forgiving jet trainer, helping generations of military pilots transition safely and effectively to high-performance jets.

Kit share some parts with the attack variant (LF Models – PE7279 – MB 326K Impala Single Seat Fighter) but is a two seat trainer version with a 4 markings decal sheet, all of them for Italian Air Force. New tool kit of 2025.
