Smer – 897 – Polikarpov Po-2 Korean War

Description:

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a Soviet Polikarpov Po-2, a very successful utility biplane introduced in 1929 and originally conceived as a trainer aircraft. Production ended in 1959 with a rough number produced between 20.000 and 30.000 examples in all different variants.

North Korea fielded a good number of Po-2s during the Korean War, where they proved again their effectivity as close ground attack during night conditions, and proved to be hard to catch to modern jet fighters, unable to fly so slow and so low, as well as difficulties for radars to engage a wooden target.

Kit is a re-box of old KP kit, originally tooled in 1975, and revised several years later. Include a decal sheet with North Korean and Chinese markings suitable for the Korean War.
