M-106 Mortar Carrier

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a U.S. M106 mortar carrier, a variant of the M113 APC fitted with a M30 mortar (106.7mm) on a turntable in the rear troop compartment. The hatch for the troop compartment in the roof is also modified and allows the mortar to be fired from inside the vehicle.

This kit is a variation of kit ESCI – 8305 – M113 A1 APC, released the next year, 1988, only under ESCI-Ertl label.

To us, this is the best of the M113 variants ESCI kits, even than the original parent kit itself. This variant of course share the problem on wheels, tracks and interior detail of all the series, but the new parts added are good enough, and this can be the basis for really nice projects.

Italeri reissued the kit as Italeri – 7069 – M106 Mortar Carrier.
