Description:

Unpainted plastic soldiers in 1/72 scale of Roman Gladiators, Retiarius, armed with a net and trident and Provokator, heavily armed with full helmet, shield and sword, and some sword’s arm and upper chest protection.

Box contains 24 figures in 8 different poses, a 3x equal sprue format. There are three poses for each of the Gladiators type, 3 different Retiarius x 3, and 3 different Provokator x 3, and then two more poses, one depicting a victorious gladiator and a woman, holding a helmet and a glass. The box contains these two poses also in a x3 format.

All Provokator figures have separated shields, they are attached by a peg in the hand to the middle of the shield, which is a pretty good way to do things. One figure has a separate arm, more difficult to attach, but which makes the more convincing pose once achieved. All of them are good figures.

The Retiarius are all molded in a single piece, including the net, which is a pretty difficult to mold thing in any scale, and achieve a good result. The limitations of the scale, material and mold are evident but result is not bad. This poses are bit flat, something quite common in Ultima Ratio figures, in almost every set you can find some bit flat figure.

The set is good enough as to be a nice addition to the Gladiators, a topic quite popular in the 1/72 scale, where you can find no less than 5 references to cover the subject, what could seem few, but it’s a well number considering the topic and compared to coverage other historically important topics got.
