ESCI – 9011 – Lockheed F-104 C “Starfighter”

Description:

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a U.S. Lockheed F-104 Starfighter, and air-superiority and fighter-bomber aircraft developed in the late 50s that saw limited service in the U.S. Air Force. F-104 C variant was specifically built for the USAF Tactical Air Command and was a nuclear capable fighter-bomber using its center pylon under fuselage. Around 77 units were build of this variant.

Together with the release of ESCI – 9007 – F-104 G/S Starfighter, ESCI released this variant in the same year, 1981, basically with a new decal sheet and few different parts, in fact, the only difference in the build process aside of the options for S variant of the 9007 kit, is the inflight refueling device, and a different tail section, shorter. The later AMT kit of 1994 included both tail sections. As most of the later kits went for G variants, this kit is considered one of the best available for an earlier A or C variants.

This release included a decal sheet with 4 U.S. markings, including two Vietnam War markings dated 1965.
