Fine Molds – FF01 – F-14B Tomcat VF-143 “Punkin’ Dogs”

Description:

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a U.S. Grumman F-14 Tomcat, a twin engined, variable geometry wing and carrier capable multi-role fighter aircraft introduced in the early 70s and retired in 2006. Only the Iranian F-14s are still operated (see Fine Molds – 72936 – F-14A Tomcat “IRIAF”).

B variant was the first major upgrade of the F-14s, with a new engine, radar and avionics. The new engine is very distinguishable with its afterburner petals and means Fine Molds include new parts for this kit, which updates their A series tooled in 2017. The kit is considered an excellent kit.

Include a decal sheet with two markings, one of them for the Desert Storm 1991. The set is compatible with Fine Molds – FP31 – US Air-to-Air missile set for extended payload options.

*Worth it to mention that the first F-14 released by Fine Molds was an F-14D (Super Tomcat) in 2015, but that kit never has been sold separately, just but with several issues of the Japanese magazine Model Graphix during 2015 and a later weapons sprue with a Scale Aviation magazine issue. The D series also included the F110-GE-400 engine, with same exhaust as the B type, so Fine Molds has these parts since 2015.
