Fine Molds – FX02 – Israeli Air Force F-4E “Kurnass”

Description:

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a U.S. McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II E variant in Israeli service, fitted with an integral M61 Vulcan cannon in its elongated RF-4C nose. F-4E came with an AN/APQ-120 radar, specially designed with a smaller cross-section to make room for that cannon. The late-series birds got leading-edge slats for better maneuverability, though it cost them some top speed. Starting with Block 53, these Phantoms could handle AGM-65 Mavericks and featured smokeless J79-GE-17C or -17E engines. The first one took to the skies on 1 August 1965, and it’s the most produced Phantom variant with 1,370 units built.

This 2024 release is a further develop of the FIne Molds F-4E series started in 2020. The kit is just an excellent kit, considering the best F-4 Phantom II kits in 1/72 scale. This kit represents early F-4E Kurnass, not to be confused with the later Israeli upgrade F-4E Kurnass 2000.

Include 3 markings dated 1973, Israeli Air Force 119th Squadron (Bat Squadron), Tel Nof Airbase. The markings belong to the 1973 Yom Kippur War, the F-4E from 119th Squadron took part in the Syrian General Staff Headquarters raid in Damascus. The set is compatible with Fine Molds – FP44 – U.S. Air-to-Air Missile Set #2 (’60s~’70s) to increase payload options.
