Ultima Ratio – UR023 – Roman Republic Army Hastati (Punic Wars)

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale depicting Roman Hastati, a type of infantry of the Roman Republic. Initially Hastati were populated from the poorest men but for the Punic Wars time, as the kit depicts, they were formed from youngest and inexperienced men. They were fitted with two heavy spears (piles) and a sword (gladius) and usually formed the first line of the army and were light armored.

Box contains 24 figures in 8 different poses, a 3x equal sprue format common in this brand. Figures has shields as separated parts, attached by a peg in the middle of the shield, the peg is tooled in the hands and fit a hole in the shield. This is usually the best way to go for roman shields and has produced great results in other makers in the past. The separate shields allows also figure poses to be more realistic, with shield well placed in front on the figure. Weapons are a mix of spears and swords.
