Starting this month a batch of Dragon reissues, starting by Dragon – 5124 – Do335B-2 ZERSTOVER which was not in our listing, and following with Dragon – 5033 – Dornier Do 335B-4 Recon, Dragon – 5013 – Messerschmitt Me1101 and Dragon – 5011 – Ar234C-4 w/V-1 Huckepack.

Another of the novelties that Italeri brings this month, is the reissue of an old ESCI kit, with the release of Italeri – 1440 – Tu-22M2 Backfire-B, is the first time that particular model is reissued, as the previous reissue was for the Tu-22M3 variant and happened almost 20 years ago. Italeri mix here the anti-ship missile that ESCI included in the Tu-22M3, with the Tu-22M2 parts and bombs payload. Interesting also, and is the first time we notice it, that Italeri uses ESCI logo in the front of the box cover to notice that it’s an ESCI origin kit. The kit was not a bad kit in 1989 when released, but all the modelers community thinks the Trumpeter kit for the same topic is much more better kit.
The last two novelties by Italeri to complete the month are two “Complete Set for Modeling” releases, Italeri – 72011 – F-22 Raptor (Complete set for modeling) and Italeri – 72007 – Spitfire Mk. IX (Complete set for modeling), repacking Italeri kit with glue, paints and the basic tools you need to build a model.
After the problematic release of Eduard – R0021 – P-51D MUSTANG DUAL COMBO (Royal Class), Eduard offers this month the excellent Eduard – 2147 – ACES OF THE EIGHTH DUAL COMBO. Eduard P-51D kit is the finest you can find in the market for 1/72 scale.
Airfix continues their schedule releasing a new Vintage Classics, welcome back Airfix – A01033V – Hawker P.1127.

Just added a new chapter in the ESCI history by adding ESCI – McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle, a single article covering all the ESCI and ESCI/Ertl releases related to the same molds, originally tooled in 1986, covering this very popular topic in the scale modeling.

Added a Poker of coming Hasegawa releases, expected for late August or September, without too much passion as they are all limited editions of past kits with new markings, and some of them really aged kits, as the MU-2. The coming releases are Hasegawa – 02480 – Mitsubishi MU-2A “Air Rescue Wing 50th Anniversary” w/Tractor, Hasegawa – 02478 – A-10C Thunderbolt “Demonstration Team Vietnam Scheme”, Hasegawa – 02479 – Tornado IDS “Maiden Flight 50th Anniversary” and Hasegawa – 02477 – V-22 OSPREY “J.G.S.D.F. 108th Aviation KISARAZU SPECIAL 2023”. To our eyes the best kit in the batch is the Osprey MV-22, but the Japanese marking limits the audience of the kit.
Updated the last two Great Wall Hobby releases with their final box covers, Great Wall Hobby (GWH) – L7213 – MiG-29 9-13 Fulcrum C and Great Wall Hobby (GWH) – L7211 – MiG 29 9-12 Fulcrum Early Type.
Clear Prop models is releasing a second variant of their excellent Grumman OV-1 Mohawk kit, which is just a state of the art kit. The new release is Clear Prop – CP72038 – OV-1B Mohawk “Pilot School” (Advanced Kit).
Just added three future releases by Fine Molds, Fine Molds – FX02 – Israeli Air Force F-4E “Kurnass”, Fine Molds – FX01 – Israeli Air Force F-15C “Baz” and Fine Molds – FF01 – F-14B Tomcat VF-143 “Punkin’ Dogs”. The three kits, F-4, F-15 and F-14, are just excellent kits, the F-4 is considered the best one in the market in 1/72 scale while F-15 and F-14 are equally excellent kits, with some interesting competitor in the Great Wall Hobby releases though they are not appropriate for early F-15Cs versions.

IBG Models officially released their next batch models, including the first two IAR 80 kits, a deep project for this 2024 year. The kits are IBG – 72564 – I.A.R. 80 Early – Gathering the Storm 1941 and IBG – 72570 – I.A.R. 81C Great Air Battles of 1944. The series is aimed to be one of the best models of 2024.

A&A Models is about to release a new variant of their Douglas A-1 Skyraider kit, time for A&A Models – 7241 – Douglas AD-5N Skyraider Night Attack Aircraft.
By its side SOVA-M is about to release Sova – 72078 – PC-12M “Eagle”, originally an Amodel kit already worked before by SOVA, and updated now with new parts and new decal sheet.
Academy brings back and oldie from 80s, Academy – 12587 – USN PV-1 “Patrol bomber”, released originally in 1987 under the Academy-Minicraft brand. This release offers an interesting decal sheet with 6 markings including a Soviet one.

Though not available yet, we started to collect and add a coming batch of Trumpeter kits, starting by the very interesting Trumpeter – 07445 – American LaFrance Eagle Fire Pumper, an unusual but beautiful topic that will delight many fans around the world.
Also added the also interesting Trumpeter – 07193 – Leopard 2A6M CAN МВТ, a Canadian Leopard 2A6.

We welcome Thunder Model in the 1/72 scale family, the Chinese brand is finally about to release Thunder Model – 72001 – US ARMY Tractor VAI with Field Compaction Roller, a model that brand already produces in 1/35 scale and that was announced so far as 2018, but in the end, it’s going to happen in 1/72 scale.

Adding another Trumpeter kit that seems to be already available from some sellers. Trumpeter – 07413 – US M1240 M-ATV MRAP. It has been years since Galaxy Hobby released their M1240 M-ATV and they also released the M1277 M-ATV with remote operated weapons station. Galaxy Hobby kits with a Modellfan Modell des Jahres prize, so Trumpeter has a strong competitor.
Also added Trumpeter – 07424 – US Army M1131 Stryker FSV, using the revised molds for the Stryker series, based in the 2007 initial release but highly updated.

Zvezda is releasing Zvezda – 5070 – KV-1 Soviet Heavy Tank, the second model of the brand using the link-and-length tracks in 1/72 scale.

Academy keeps reissuing Revell kits and next in the pipeline is Academy – 13431 – German Tiger-I Ver. Late.
ICM is also reissuing and updating a Revell kit, in this case ICM – 72820 – Leopard 2A6 Armed Forces of Ukraine, with a new decal sheet and new PE (photo-etched) parts, to address some of the field modifications the Leopard 2A6 get in Ukraine.
First to Fight is adding a new horse drawn cart, First to Fight – 112 – “Biedka wz. 33” with 81 mm mortar wz. 31.

The Italian brand Italeri has some novelties in 1/72 scale for August, but probably the most “impressive” one is the release of Italeri – 6107 – Hartenstein Hotel 1944 Operation Market/Garden Arnhem Sector – BATTLE SET, after a long time without release such palyset boxes. The box include a new and nice MDF building, which is the main part of the box, complemented with some really old figures (ESCI times) and some fast assembly Italeri kits.

Max Factory continues developing the VF-1 Macross Valkyrie Fighter model with the release of MAX FACTORY – 01384 – PLAMAX PX07 VF-1A Fighter Valkyrie Vermillion Platoon (Maximilian Jenius / Hayao Kakizaki) that adds a new set of decals/markings to the existing line. The brand also announced a new VF-1S Strike Fighter Valkyrie Skull Leader which will include a boost/strike pack newly tooled that will further extend the series, into what can be considered the best VF-1 kits in fighter mode.
