Aircraft

We are getting up to date in the first major update of this year 2025.

Arma Hobby has some coming novelties, such Arma Hobby – 70080 – Curtiss H-75 A1/A2, a new tool for this year, Arma Hobby – 70079 – Nakajima Ki-43 II Hayabusa Foreign Services, the second release of the very recent Nakajima Ki-43 kit and Arma Hobby – 70058 – P-39 Airacobra Reconnaissance, an upgraded with 3D parts variant of their popular P-39 Airacobra.

LF Models issued two more de Havilland Puss Moth, remember they are the old AVI Models kits. The new releases are LF Models – PE7278 – DH 80A Puss Moth “Axis Communication Plane” and LF Models – PE7277 – DH 80A Puss Moth “Goes to the War”, featuring a good number of new markings for the type but without any other update.

Italeri by their side updated Italeri – 1274 – A-26 B INVADER with a new decal sheet.

Clear Prop Models is releasing Clear Prop Models – CP72054 – F-86A (Advanced Kit), a complex and detailed it not for everyone as the brand usually does.

Fly Models bring a basic but very interesting kit, Fly – 72059 – Marcel Besson MB-411, the Besson MB.411 is a very particular aircraft so it’s nice to see it released as kit.

Eduard updates their Messerschmitt Bf 109 line with the release of Eduard – 70164 – Bf 109G-10 WNF/Diana, and some more kits are in the pipeline for a non-stoping brand.

Special Hobby keeps a high rate of releases and added to the market three kits in this time, Special Hobby – SH72503 – Defiant NF Mk.II “Radar Fighter”, Special Hobby – SH72524 – Percival P.66 Pembroke C.1 and Special Hobby – SH72506 – Dornier Do-27H-2 “Three Blade Propeller”, all of them interesting models.

Azur FRROM updates their excellent Bloch MB.210 with the release of Azur FRROM – FR0056 – Bloch MB 210 “AT WAR”.

Fine Molds continue updating their McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II line with the release (expected for next month) of Fine Molds – FF05 – USN F-4B Fighter VF-84 Jolly Rogers, the first B variant, updated with new parts and opening the path for probably some more releases to feed the already large list of Fine Molds F-4 Phantom II kits.

Kovozávody Prostějov (KP) started by the end of past year a new line of kits, named “HI-TECH Limited”, till now consisting of old AZ Model kits updated with new 3D Printed parts, in many cases, replacing originally resin cast parts. These AZ Model kits were usually fitted also with PE (photo-etched) parts but those are gone now, so kit remains pretty basic while price is some higher than usual Kovozávody Prostějov kit. The brand is also issuing self adhesive paint mask in these kit, which is a good add-on. By now we added the following kits from this line:

AZmodel must be close to release a large and interesting batch of early Bf 109s but while these become available they released AZ Model – AZ7891 – Beech SD-17S “Staggerwing”, the float plane variant of their Beechcraft Model 17 Staggerwing kit, a topic also covered by Sword previously.

Before close the day a poker by Kovozávody Prostějov (KP) released at the end of 2024, a newly tooled Pilatus PC-9 kit with 4 initial releases:

Adding one of the Airfix announced kits for 2025 and expected for this spring, time for Airfix – A08018A – Boeing B-17G / Fortress Mk.III, and excellent kit for an iconic aircraft. Also expected soon (maybe for summer) is the new 2025 tooled Airfix – A04068 – Westland Wessex HC.2, a good addition for any helicopters subject fan.

Continuing with Kovozávody Prostějov (KP), time to add their recent Grumman G-44 Widgeon kits, a full poker with Kovozávody Prostějov (KP) – KPM0476 – Grumman J4F-2/OA-14 “Widgeon”, Kovozávody Prostějov (KP) – KPM0477 – Grumman G-44 “Widgeon”, Kovozávody Prostějov (KP) – KPM0474 – Grumman Gosling Mk.I and Kovozávody Prostějov (KP) – KPM0475 – Grumman J4F-1 “Widgeon”. Vehicles

Just before the end of the year 2024 IBG released two more BTR-4E APCs, IBG Models – 72152 – BTR-4E Ukrainian APC (modified hull) with slat armor and IBG Models – 72151 – BTR-4E Ukrainian APC (modified hull) and there are more excellent news from the Polish brand that we’ll add in coming days.

S-Model has a good number of new releases, sadly they remain being updates of past kits and the brand remains unable to release a new tool years ago. By now we added S-Model – SP072018 – L3/33 Flame Tank and S-Model – SP072017 –  Sd.Kfz.2 & IF.8 Trailer Early Type, both interesting updates of two of the earliest kits released by the brand.

MENG is about to release Meng – 72-006 – Merkava Mk.4M w/Trophy Active Protection System, expected for March 2025, featuring one of the most advances tanks in this moment.

Ace has released ACE – 72595 – Cannone da 105/28 with carrello elastico trailer, the Italian copy of the French Canon de 105 mle 1913 Schneider. The kit comes with wood wheels and seems to not be suitable for WWII but earlier periods or WWI.

Ships and Submarines

While there aren’t real novelties to report in this section, Airfix announced for 2025 their three 1/72 WWII ships moved to the Vintage Classics series and reissued, we speak about Airfix – A05281V / A05281 – RAF Rescue Launch (RAF Air Sea Rescue Launch), Airfix – A05280V / A05280 – Vosper M.T.B (Vosper Motor Torpedo Boat) and Airfix – A10280V / A10280 (10280) – German E-Boat.

Sci-Fi and Anime

For a long time we were pending to finish the Fang of the Sun Dougram Max Factory line, which is complete now with the addition of Max Factory – Combat Armors: MAX 28 – Big Foot Ver. GT, Max Factory – Combat Armors: MAX 29 – Dougram Hang Glider Equipment Type and Max Factory – Combat Armors: MAX 30 – Soltic H8 Roundfacer Ver. GT. Most of this late addition belongs to the Get Truth contemporary comic, and around it, several special issues mixing comic + plastic model has happen. Amongst them, one in particular shows another updated Soltic H8 Roundfacer not available as stand alone model, so probably we’ll be adding this entry in the short future.

Also added from Max Factory one of the awaited updates in their VF-1 Battroid line, Max Factory – PX10 – PLAMAX VF-1S Battroid Valkyrie Roy Focker Special, which according to the brand information just started distribution this month.
