Heller keeps working in restructure the company and catalogue, clearly in two directions, restore and update old kits, we updated today Heller – 80282 – SPITFIRE MK XVI (and there will be more in next days) but also cooperating with other brands to launch new models, and again, cooperating with Special Hobby, Heller announced two kits, Heller – 30304 – Dornier DO 27/CASA C-127 and the Starter Kit version Heller – 35304 – Dornier DO 27/CASA C-127 (STARTER KIT), both based in the excellent Special Hobby kit. The previously announced model as part of this cooperation, Heller – 30319 – MIRAGE F1 B, is not released yet. We would love to see a newly tooled own Heller kit in 1/72 scale soon.

Modelsvit seems to be recovering the pulse despite still facing hard times as full Ukraine and announced a new model to appear very soon, Modelsvit – 72041 – VVA-14 with inflatable pontoons, a variation of the previous release Modelsvit – 72014 – Bartini Beriev VVA-14.

Special Hobby will re-release this month Special Hobby – 72291 – Mirage F.1B, which is the base for the cooperation with Heller, so maybe the Heller release is finally close to happen.

To finish with the expected Heller future by now we added Heller – 80235 – Focke-Wulf FW 190 A5/A8/F8 and Heller – 80229 – Messerschmitt BF 109 K-4, both originally tooled in the 70s. From now ahead we’ll not added as separate entries the Starter Kit edition, that information is added inside the main product page. Also for the yesterday updated Heller – 80282 – SPITFIRE MK XVI. We don’t want to criticize the brand strategy, but these kits are really old, there are better and newer options in the market for all the topics they depict, and there are still an important second hand market with previous releases of the same kits. So while it’s great that the brand is able to keep the moulds working they should be better looking for some of the more exclusive kits they released in the past, rather than so common topics full of better options in the market. The only good point of these new release is that they are pretty cheap, around 10€ official price, and since they are basic kits, the Starter Kit options are not bad to gift to younger people and introduce them into the hobby, something very very necessary. About the cooperation with Special Hobby, at this moment, Heller kits are labelled more expensive than the original Special Hobby, official prices, which also doesn’t looks as very good, for the brand either for consumers.

Figures

Updated Preiser – 72522 – Infantry riflemen, partisans. USSR 1942/43 with box content images and close up image to appreciate why/or why not Preiser figures are still appreciated despite they are expensive and hard to find, but they are not for every taste.

2022/06/05

If you ever owned this kit, it’s a must have in your collection. This good figure set was also included in a number of combo boxes by Revell, each one is worth it:

2022/06/07

Rumours of new releases start to appear, but while this happen to took our time to update another nice Revell kit that you still can put your hands on thought it’s largely out of production. Revell – 02502 – World War II German Infantry, released in 1995, changed the game for the available German infantry sets in 1/72 scale at the time, so it deserves a good place in your collection.

2022/06/08

2022/06/23

The second set of the “new” Caesar seems to be starting to appear, Caesar – H105 – Modern PRC PLA Troops, consisting of contemporary Chinese PLA troops on parade. At the same time, the previous announced set, Caesar – TK-001 – Three Kingdoms (Shu Kingdom set 1) (Sichuan Province Set 1), seems has changed both name and box, from Shu Kingdom set 1 to Sichuan Province Set 1. Both releases show little intent of internationalization, as both remain in purely Chinese interest self market. The new Modern PLA figures would be of interest, but choose a parade poses, reduces it. There is a third announced set, again for a Chinese topic that we’ll add shortly. Also distribution, at least by now, is not reaching by far what the brand achieved in the past.

2022/06/25
